Eskom to implement Stage 4 rolling blackouts

Eskom says it is going to be implementing stage four rolling blackouts from 17:00. The ability utility quickly suspended the rolling blackouts for a couple of hours on Sunday.

Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says stage 5 load shedding might be applied on Monday night, in addition to Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

“Load shedding will fluctuate between Stage 4 and Stage 2 in the course of the day till Wednesday. Adjustments within the levels of load shedding might be extra erratic because of the absence of the buffer that’s usually offered by the diesel era capability between producing unit breakdowns.”

“The elevated implementation of loadshedding is principally because of the excessive ranges of breakdowns and the depleted emergency era reserves. Three models at Kusile Energy Station are offline because of the duct chimney construction failure late in October and can stay offline for a couple of months”, says Mantshantsha.
