The Hawks in Mpumalanga and the Eskom Forensic investigators have arrested an Eskom worker on Friday.
The worker, who is predicated on the Matla energy station, is accused of involvement in fraudulent actions amounting to tens of millions of rand. The fraudulent actions occurred whereas the suspect was employed at Arnot energy station in 2013.
The suspect is alleged to have violated procurement processes within the tendering system costing the beleaguered energy utility about R15 million.
The Hawks spokesperson, Dineo Sekgotodi says the arrest is a part of an ongoing operation to clamp down on corruption at Eskom.
Sekgotodi says extra arrests are imminent. The suspect is going through fees that embrace theft, fraud and cash laundering.
