Western Cape police warn of stern motion in opposition to acts of violence forward of a taxi strike

Western Cape police have warned of stern motion in opposition to those that could also be planning to embark on violence and disruptions throughout the taxi strike on Monday and Tuesday.

Police say they won’t tolerate the disruption of different transport operators and motorists that will have an effect on the lives of commuters.

Spokesperson Novela Potelwa says a number of legislation enforcement items might be deployed to potential hotspots.

The South African Nationwide Taxi Council (Santaco) is planning a two-day stay-away within the province.

The stay-away is in protest in opposition to the provincial authorities’s announcement that the Blue Dot taxi pilot programme would stop operations on the finish of this month.  Taxi drivers are offended at what they are saying is the common impounding of their autos

Violence and arson in opposition to different modes of public transport and commuters beforehand marked taxi protests.

Disgruntled commuters 

In the meantime, commuters in Cape City will not be blissful in regards to the taxi trade’s choice to embark on a shutdown.
